Jauad El Kharraz
Dr. Jauad El Kharraz is CEO of WECEN (Water-Energy-Climate Expert Network), a consultancy specialized in water, energy and climate. He served as Executive Director of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) from 2021 to 2024. With more than 25 years of international experience, his expertise covers renewable energy, green hydrogen, desalination, water resources management, the water-energy-food nexus, climate change, and environmental sustainability.
Previously, he was Director of Research at the Middle East Desalination Research Center (MEDRC) in Oman (2015–2020) and has worked as a senior consultant and advisor for leading international organizations, including FAO, UN-ESCWA, the European Commission, PRIMA Foundation, GWP-Med, and the European Climate Foundation. He is also actively involved in several international water and desalination networks.
Since beginning his career in 1998, Dr. El Kharraz has coordinated and contributed to numerous international research and development projects funded by the European Union and major international donors. He has participated as a speaker, chair, and expert at major global events, including the World Water Forum, World Economic Forum, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, World Hydrogen Summit, and COP26–COP29, across more than 60 countries.
A Moroccan and French national, Dr. El Kharraz graduated from Abdelmalek Essaâdi University before earning his MSc and PhD in Physics from the University of Valencia (Spain), as well as a Diploma in Enterprise Management and Strategy from SKEMA Business School (France). He is fluent in Arabic, French, English, and Spanish.
